Zinc roof secures extension to a Barn

We’re proud to have recently gained approval for an extension to a barn conversion in Shropshire.

Barn conversions usually have ‘Permitted Development’ rights removed, in order to control further extensions.  In the past it has been extremely difficult to secure consent to add any further extensions to a formerly converted barn unit.  However thanks to evidence of former parts of the building which were removed, we proposed a single storey Garden Room extension but with a zinc roof, in order to be more sympathetic to the agricultural origins of the former attached buildings.  The main barn unit was converted a few years ago and won a Building Excellence award under LABC (through the former architect.)

Our architectural services were provided to Severn Oak Timber Frames Limited with whom we have a long standing relationship, having developed tried and tested detailing in Oak framing.  Works have commenced on site and progress photos will be posted shortly, in the meantime here is the scheme:-
